Today we lost a great man and a great Twins ball player, Harmon Killibrew (1936 – 2011). I remember when the Twins had one of their first bobble head days, we hopped in a buddies box van and headed down to the Metrodome to be one of the select few to get a Harmon Killibrew bobble head. I remember thinking it was the coolest thing ever, and we just got there in time to get one, some guys sold theirs for a pretty penny, but I held on to mine. I remember my dad and others telling me stories of the monster homeruns Killibrew would hit. I soon found out that I was not tower “get out your ruler” type of player. He helped put Minnesota Baseball on the map and getting us back outdoors in 2010. With his Babe Ruth type power and charisma off the field, Killibrew was also a role model and gave back to the game in many ways. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
